Do you know how many selfies I have taken and posted over the past year? A lot…I have been on a journey of weight-loss and self-discovery after completing the book, Who’s the Girl in the Fat Suit? I have had many people ask how I have dropped over eighty pounds. Of course, they all want to know what diet I am on. Now, for me, dieting is something I have done in the past and I have failed at miserably. Counting calories, measuring foods and cutting out all food groups but water has been attempted. I am sure there are others out there who have fallen victim to fad diets and magical weight-loss pills. It is a huge market and a lot of money is made off of our wishes to be thin.
The diet, or plan I am on is called, “Nottadiet” because it is not your run-of-the-mieal-diet. You can cheat on purpose and have a bowl of ice cream if you really want to. The only thing I have done, is decided to eat whole foods 90% of the time. I prepare all of our meals at home, and make double so we have something for lunches the next day. It sure has been nice not having to drive all over town to find something to eat on my lunch break. Although, I am sure some of the fast-food restaurants experienced a slight decrease in revenue.
We gave up processed foods and artificial colors or flavoring. We ditched the sodas and barista coffees for more natural choices. It took me a while to get used to black coffee. I was addicted to sugar like a hummingbird. So, after losing about forty pounds, people really wanted to know what we were doing. I gave out a few of my recipes to friends and they wanted more.
